Crocodile wrangler Matt Wright will appear in court today, charged over a helicopter crash that killed his friend and co-star in the Northern Territory.

The 43-year-old travelled to Darwin yesterday after police issued a warrant for his arrest on Monday.

Wright is facing seven charges, including attempting to pervert the course of justice and destruction of evidence.

Today reporter Andrea Crothers told Laurel, Gary & Mark police have been tight-lipped about what they’re alleging the reality star did at the crash site.

“Police aren’t confirming with media at the moment what they’re looking at; we’re hoping some will start to come out in court this morning when he does face it,” she said.

Wright is now one of three people charged over the crash, with former police officer Neil Mellon and helicopter Michael Burbidge already facing a range of offences.

“There’s a former senior cop Neil Mellon,” Andrea continued. “He’s actually facing 32 charges.

“Some of those are the same as Matt Wright, you know, attempting to pervert the course of justice but also things like disclosing confidential information.

“He actually got arrested months ago when he was on the job. He is due to face court again in December.”
