Questions remain after Health Minister sacks hospital board

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath says the decision to sack the board of the Mackay Base Hospital, was made in the best interest of the public.
The entire board has been sacked after an investigation revealed inadequate care lead to the death of three babies.
It also found that some women were left with life-long injuries after caesarean sections.
Ms D’Ath said historically, not enough work had been done to address systemic issues.
Nine News reporter Tim Arvier said there are questions about whether more should have been done.
“The whole question is who is to blame for what happened at Mackay and who should be losing their job,” he said.
“Ultimately they should, this is not a trivial matter.”
He said in March, Ms D’Ath gave a glowing endorsement of the board.
