Mackay Hospital board sacked after horror report, Health Minister confirms

The entire Mackay Hospital and Health Services board has been sacked after a damning report into the hospital’s obstetrics and gynaecology department.
It was last month revealed inadequate care led to botched surgeries and the deaths of babies.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said she dismissed the board on November 4 after a show cause notice was issued in September.
She said she was “not satisfied that the board is able to implement the recommendations of the report, including the cultural change needed” across the hospital.
“I was satisfied that it is in the public interest that all members of the board be dismissed.”
An administrator has been appointed in their place.
