A Brisbane dad says he copped a whopping parking fine for parking in a grassed area near the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre.

James Stay was going to the centre to watch his son’s basketball game, but when he arrived, there were no parks in sight so he parked in a grassy area.

He got a letter in the mail from the Gold Coast City Council with a $287 fine inside.

“Two weeks later I get this in the mail, I’m just shocked,” he told Neil Breen.
