QLD family’s harrowing search for short-term rental after dad’s health battle

neil breen

A Yeppoon mum is desperately seeking affordable, short-term accommodation to relocate to Brisbane while her husband and father of her children remains in a coma in hospital.

Dan Rutledge had surgery to remove a tumour in his brain.

Following the surgery, he had a seizure, and now he remains in a coma, with his prognosis unknown.

Dan’s wife Leisa and three children, aged 13, 14, and 16, are now struggling to find a short-term rental or accommodation.

Leisa told Neil Breen trying to find a place within their budget and suitable location is almost impossible.

“It is [a nightmare],” she said.

She says it’s been crazy trying to find something suitable and affordable.

“We still have to pay our mortgage back home, because I want Dan, if he does wake up, to go back to our home.”

Press PLAY below to hear Leisa explain how it’s unfolded
