4bc news

A combination vaccine that could be used to COVID-19 and the flu could be available in years to come.

US pharmaceutical giant Moderna is carrying out trials and will soon launch a phase one study for a shot that tackles multiple respiratory illnesses.

Human trials are expected to start later this year.

It will also launch a phase one study of a shot that can fight influenza, coronavirus and RSV.

The company’s chief medical officer, Dr Paul Burton, says a three-in-one shot would be a game changer,

“These are all respiratory pathogens that kill people young and old, every year.”
