A 4BC listener has flagged a severe lack of street lighting amid concerns about rising crime in the Mitchelton area.

Damien told Scott Emerson there was a serious lack of lighting in Mitchelton between Samford Road and Hoben Street, which he’s noticed of a nighttime.

He says the council built parks have no street lamps.

Enogerra Ward councillor Andrew Wines later explained that it was a significant drainage area.

But he said council was aware of the issue.
