ACTU claims decade of Coalition control cheated workers out of $10,000

A new report claims the average Australian has lost out on $10,000 in wages since 2013. 

While the Coalition government blames overseas pressures for a rise in inflation, the Australian Council of Trade Unions says wage problems existed long before.

ACTU Secretary Sally McManus told Neil Breen it’s up to the federal government to keep wages in check.

“What used to happen is wages would go up when productivity went up,” she said. “Well, it has and wages haven’t increased to the same amount.

“Governments have got to readjust the settings to balance things out again.”
