Treasurer insists Coalition the party to lead country through rising inflation
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg insists the Coalition is best-placed to tackle soaring inflation rates.
Inflation jumped by over five per cent in the year to March after the price of petrol, food and housing increased.
Finance experts predict a rate rise will follow next week after the biggest jump in consumer prices is more than two decades.
Mr Frydenberg told Neil Breen the Coalition has a comprehensive cost of living package.
“This will help alleviate some of the cost of living pressures on, particularly in this case, pensioners, veterans, carers and six million Australians who are on income support.
“We’re also ensuring 10 million workers who pay tax will get a $420 lift to their low and middle income tax offset.
“We’ve cut fuel excise in half, which is already making a big difference at the bowser for families and for tradies and for others.”
