‘Surprise and disappointment’ over accidental use of Hitler image in police program
The chairman of the Queensland Holocaust Museum and Education Centre says he was surprised and disappointed at the accidental use of a Hitler image in a police training module.
A silhouette image was depicted talking to a member of the public.
This morning, Neil Breen slammed the oversight and a lack of checks and balances.
A QPS spokesperson says it was unintentionally used after searching ‘police officer silhouette’ on a design program.
The centre’s Jason Steinber later weighed in on 4BC Drive with Peter Fegan, expressing his surprise and disappointment that it happened, but he was grateful it had been removed and resolved.
“Where this originated from was a graphic design platform online, which is a global phenomenon, and we have actually written to them to say this needs to be removed,” he said.
“Images of Hitler and Nazism should be confined to museums and the teaching of history, so our children and other people always understand that evil.
“It shouldn’t be available freely on these kinds of programs.”
