Impacts of Chinese tariffs on Australian wine are beginning to be tallied, with the overall value of exports falling by 4 percent in the 12 months to March.

In November China introduced tariffs of up to 218 percent on imported Australian wine.

It’s had an immediate impact.

The first full three months of the duty in place saw just $12 million worth of wine sent to China.

That same period a year ago — $325 million of wine was exported.
