Youth crime protesters to gather at parliament for first day of sittings

Protesters will be taking to the steps of state parliament tomorrow for the first day of sittings. 

Following the death of Emma Lovell in Brisbane’s north on Boxing Day, there have been increasing calls for the government to take immediate action against youth crime.

The creator of the Emma’s Law petition, Julie West, told Sofie Formica more grassroots consultation is needed from the Palaszczuk government.

“They’re not consulting, they’re not consulting with the right people,” she said. “I look at how Anthony Albanese came out with this Voice, and he’s saying ‘It’s just good manners’.

“How is there a gap between what federal Labor believe and what Queensland Labor believe?”
