Youth crime is in the spotlight in south-east Queensland, with police admitting they are frustrated by the levels of criminal behaviour.

It comes after four teens were charged following a fatal traffic crash in Wynnum West yesterday, including two who were also in an allegedly stolen car trailing behind.

Police will allege a 15-year-old boy was driving an allegedly stolen vehicle in the incident.

Speaking broadly on the issue, South Brisbane District Acting Detective Inspector Warren Gibbs said it was frustrating for police.

“It’s something that we deal with regularly … it is something that is a constant for us and that’s why we’ve got to be determined to do our job and keep these kids in custody,” he told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.

He said their job was to investigate and try and prevent it from happening.

“If we can prevent it and disrupt it, then we are going to stop some of this happening.”

He admitted it was frustrating for the public when youth offenders filmed their expeditions and gloated about them on social media.
