World-first app to save shift workers from sleep deprivation

John Stanley

While we track health when it comes to our hearts, lungs, skin, and much more, often sleep is not given the same attention.

In fact, sleep deprivation is often seen as an indicator of hard work, rather than a health concern. That’s something that researchers from Monash University are hoping to combat with a new app.

The SleepSync app is designed to create sleep-wake cycles for shift workers to improve their sleep and overall mood.

John Stanley was joined by co-author of the informing research, Dr Tracey Sletten, to discuss how the app works and how important sleep is to our overall health.
