Woman escapes alleged attempted car theft with minor injuries

4BC News

A Wacol man has been charged after allegedly threatening a woman and attempting a car theft in Southport yesterday.

Initial reports suggest the man entered a woman’s car while she was parked on Marine Parade at Southport.

It’s alleged he threatened her with a knife and demanded her car but fled on foot when she screamed.

The 67-year-old woman suffered minor injuries during the incident.

He was arrested in Cypress Avenue in Surfers Paradise shortly after midnight.

Police allege earlier that day, the man had deliberately removed a GPS tracking device in Milton and fled to the Gold Coast.

The 35-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences, including unlawful entry of a vehicle and attempted armed robbery.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court later today.
