Woman dies after car swept into creek at Aspley

A woman has died in floodwaters at Aspley overnight.
The 44-year-old was a passenger in a sedan, which was swept into a creek due to moving floodwaters.
The 52-year-old male driver was able to escape.
Police and emergency services later located the woman inside the car but she couldn’t be saved.

“We have been speaking with a resident,” Nine News reporter Jess Millward told Spencer Howson. “This creek backs on to some homes here in Aspley.
“They say it was one of the residents who called triple-zero, because they could hear a woman screaming.”
