Former Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Coatsworth has predicted case numbers will peak by the end of summer, with 2022 hailed as the end of the pandemic.

NSW is seeing tens of thousands of COVID cases a day, while Queenslanders are recording thousands in their own state.

Dr Coatsworth told Chris Smith COVID will become endemic in 2022.

“To an extent- we’re already there.

“ICU, I suspect, will no longer be a bottleneck.”
