Why some find Suttons Beach Pavilion’s stay of execution ‘disappointing’

The fate of Redcliffe’s Suttons Beach Pavilion is still up in the air after Council awarded a tender for invasive testing.
An independent investigation into the structural integrity of Suttons Beach Pavilion will start this month, conducted by Covey Associates.
But a community group pushing for the pavilion to be preserved as much as possible says it’s a disappointing update.
“We could see this coming,” Save Suttons Beach Preservation Group President Jodie Starr told Spencer Howson, filling in for Neil Breen.
“They were one of the businesses that actually did one of the original reports that pretty much said it needed to be demolished.
“Our thoughts are at the moment that it’s steering toward that report is going to say the same thing.”
Ms Starr said she believes the most likely compromise will be for the current building to be demolished and a replica built in its place.
“Obviously if we didn’t put a big roadblock in, there would be nothing there; it would just be grass and toilets.
“We will keep fighting and we will keep pushing it forward to them so don’t worry about that!”
