Households on Australia’s east coast will should receive a financial boost in the coming years.

Recent data shows electricity costs for the average residential customer will fall by six per cent by 2024.

Queensland and Victoria will see the greatest decrease in prices, at 10 and eight per cent respectively.

Federal Energy Minister Angus Taylor told Neil Breen families are the big winners.

“To take advantage of that, people need to shop around, there’s plenty of deals available.”

He said Queensland is reaping the benefits due to a high uptake of solar panels.

“You are, of any region in the world, the biggest users of household solar, and that’s putting downward pressure on prices.”
