Why four COVID-19 jabs in a year won’t be the norm going forward
Australians are being reassured the current pace of COVID-19 vaccines is not expected to be maintained.
People over the age of 30 are expected to be given access to a fourth dose of a COVID-19 vaccine after the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation agreed to recommend the booster program be expanded in a meeting yesterday.
Dr Paul Griffin told Spencer Howson four doses in the space of 12 months won’t be the norm in years ahead.
“If we think about the primary course, it probably should’ve been three doses originally and then for many people, this winter booster will be their first true booster.
“I would think it’s probably going to be one or two a year moving forward.
“Hopefully we’re going to get second generation vaccines soon that will mean we can do that a bit less frequently.”
