Why Anthony Albanese ‘wants to be careful’ with Palaszczuk playbook
Anthony Albanese has praised the Queensland Premier’s leadership ‘template’ as a way forward for Labor.
At a press conference in Brisbane yesterday, Mr Albanese signalled he’d take a leaf out of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s playbook if he were elected.
But Neil Breen says it’s a topic on which the Opposition Leader needs to tread carefully.
“My warning for Anthony Albanese is he’d want to be careful,” Neil said.
“In southern states, Annastacia Palaszczuk is wildly unpopular. Believe me: anti-Palaszczuk and anti-Queensland sentiment runs deep.”
He compared the Premier to her Western Australia counterpart, Premier Mark McGowan.
“When Albo visits Perth, will he say to the people of Western Australia: ‘I want to govern Australia just like McGowan has governed here in Western Australia’?
“Imagine how you’d feel about that, or how Victorians, people from NSW, South Australia think about that.”
