A Murarrie-based electric vehicle charging company has won the praise of US President Joe Biden.

Tritium is building its first US manufacturing site in Tennessee, expected to eventually be able to produce 30,000 chargers a year.

The company was founded in 2001 at Murarrie by Doctor David Finn and two other University of Queensland students.

Dr Finn told Neil Breen it’s a ‘fantastic’ day after becoming a public company just two weeks ago.

“We want to make it just so easy … like, there with your petrol station you can find an electric vehicle charging station,” he said.

“This market is happening so quickly and all at once and there’s so many different channels to market.

“It’s an amazing experience to be a part of.”
