Tennis great Todd Woodbridge says Tennis Australia and the Victorian government discussions over the summer of tennis are “going well”.

The Wide World of Sports commentator said it hasn’t been publicly announced yet, but he said it was looking like Melbourne would host the Australian Open.

“Tennis Australia [are] so far ahead of where they were last year, ” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“The date is set in stone, talks with the Victorian government are going very well.

“It’s about what the playing groups will look like when they get down here and it’s looking more likely players will be playing tournaments in a bubble before we get into a free and open Australian Open.”

He said Victorian Sports Minister Martin Pakula has today urged ATP or WTA player to seriously think about getting vaccinated.
