What the government’s power bills relief package could look like for Aussie households
The federal government is investigating a power bills relief package for Australian households.
The Australian reports the package will be aimed at stemming the rise of soaring electricity bills.
The Australian Energy Council’s chief executive, Sarah McNamara, said they were pleased that the government was considering options rather than making hasty decisions.
“What we understand, and we are only hearing this second hand through the media ourselves is that they looking at a range of temporary measures that would include setting price limits on the cost of gas and coal supplies to power stations
“And also potentially looking at some cash hand-outs to consumers, that is to say households and small businesses.”

Nationals Senator for Queensland, Matt Canavan, criticised the lack of detail.
“The unfortunate thing is I don’t think they know what they are up to yet, so certainly we don’t know what they are up to,” he told Neil Breen.
He said they’ve come up with “four different policies” in the month after the Budget.
