Penrith Panthers assistant coach Cameron Ciraldo has signed a five-year deal to coach the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin says he was surprised at the length of the contract.

“I don’t believe any coach should have a five-year contract because in the coaching game and when you are at a club, things change rapidly,” he told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports.

“And most often, things change for the worst rapidly.”

He said it can become an expensive exercise for the club.

Fatty also spoke about how all he wanted to do when he hung up the boots was to coach.
