The state’s south-east is expected to be spared the worst of the wet weather forecast in the coming days.

Western regions have already copped a drenching, with Emerald recording 132 millimetres in five hours yesterday.

Today reporter Mia Glover told Laurel, Gary & Mark increasing showers are expected in the next couple of days.

“That massive stretch of land, around 2000 kilometres are set to be either copping an absolute deluge over the next few days, or copping severe storm.

“We are likely to get some showers today but it’s not going to be really until tomorrow and Friday that we see these storms start to move toward the coast.”
