Warren Mundine: ‘The idea that Aboriginal people haven’t got voices is ridiculous’

A leader of the campaign against a Voice to Parliament is backing the Liberal Party’s push to bolster existing local and regional bodies.
Former politician Warren Mundine says a constitutionally-enshrined national voice isn’t necessary because “the idea that Aboriginal people haven’t got voices … is just ridiculous”.
“You cannot do anything on Aboriginal land, which is about nearly 30 per cent of Australia, or even in Crown land without negotiations and consultations with Aboriginal people,” he told Ray Hadley.
“This idea that they don’t have a voice just, to me, is mad.
“Jacinta [Price] was right, what we need to do is build more capacity within those communities so they can have a stronger voice.”
