Wages war: Tanya Plibersek weighs in on controversial wage rise comments
Tanya Plibersek has weighed in on the wages debate and war of words between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese.
The Shadow Minister for Women and Education says ultimately it is a decision for the Fair Work Commission whether the minimum wage will increase by 5.1 per cent in line with inflation.
But she says if inflation is growing faster than wages than people are “going backwards”.
“Anthony [Albanese] has been really clear, that we think pay should keep up with the cost of living.
“Ultimately it is a matter for the Fair Work Commission.”
