US President makes surprise first visit to Ukraine since Russian invasion

The US President has made a surprise trip to Ukraine, days before the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion.
He is committing an extra $500 million USD in military aid and has reaffirmed the West’s solidarity with the war torn nation.
9News reporter Jess Millward told Laurel, Gary & Mark nobody knew Mr Biden would be visiting until the internet cut out and streets were blocked off.
“It’s really fascinating, the operation, to get the President into Kyiv because it is an active warzone,” she said.
“If you needed any reminder of that, air raid sirens actually started going off while he and [President] Zelenskyy were touring the capital.”
