The Mango Hill substation is undergoing emergency repairs due to floods damage, that requires “urgent attention”, Energex has advised.

Residents in Griffin, Kippa Ring Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, North Lakes and Rothwell are being urged to limit power use to avoid huge blackouts.

“People who are fed off the Mango Hill substation, which is Griffin, Kippa Ring, Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, North Lakes and Rothwell, we are urging them to go easy on power this evening,” Energex’s Danny Donald told Scott Emerson.

Energex says “load-shedding” of electricity sources could happen over the next 48 hours if there are huge spikes in electricity usage in those areas.
