Uber fined $21 million by the Federal Court after fight brought about by the ACCC

Uber has been fined $21 million by the Federal Court after the company admitted misleading customers in two instances.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) took Uber to court for overestimating fees for services and advertising a possible cancellation fee that it never charged.
Chair of the ACCC, Gina Cass-Gottlieb, explained why they pursued them.
“There were two types of misleading their customers that they were engaged in,” she said on Brisbane Live.
“The first was in relation to cancellation messages.”
