Tourism operators rejoice as QLD claims title as nation’s top tourism capital

Tourism operators in Queensland are flying high after Queensland can claim the title of Australia’s tourism capital for the first time.
Tourism Research Australia figures reveal domestic visitors spent $17.9 billion in the Sunshine State in the year to March, beating every other state.
Derrin Drew manages the Jacobs Well Tourist Park and Main Beach Tourist Park and said to see it in writing was validation of their hard work, especially after COVID-9.
“We are seeing the results of that already Peter, our parks are absolutely at capacity in periods where we are not usually that busy, when it’s cold and a bit blustery, we still have guests coming left right and centre.”
He said after some dark times during the lockdowns, it was finally turning around.
“This is absolutely the light at the end of the tunnel.”
