Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll has promised change in the agency after damning and disturbing allegations of sexism, racism, misogyny and assaults within the police force.

In the wake of the public inquiry into the force’s handling of domestic and family violence cases, the state’s top cop says she will review a number of cases which weren’t handled correctly.

Speaking to Peter Fegan on Brisbane Live she says a line in the sand has been drawn.

“The examples that we’ve heard about the way people have been acting towards each other, sexism, misogyny, racism, and bullying at the hands of fellow members, it is just unacceptable,” she said.

“There is going to be a tough action on this type of behaviour.

“I apologise to victims internally and externally, because a police officer is a friend to the community, and someone who keeps everyone safe, including each other.”

She has vowed the force will get “better at this”.
