The part owner of a Toowoomba store has taken a novel approach to tracking down and dealing with four young teenagers who allegedly tried to break into the shop.

Gavin Bagnall was alerted to a group of teens allegedly trying to break into the 420 Superstore, smashing the front door to try and gain access.

He made it his mission to track them down, and posted on social media to find them.

But his response might be surprising to some.

“I’ve had a great chat to a few of the young fellas a well, they have really tried to make it up,” he told Neil Breen.

“I have tried to understand where they are coming from, because I do believe coming down on them isn’t going to be the solution.”

In his view, part of the problem for teens in town is boredom, and a lack of activities and things to do.

Mr Bagnall, who is also a music promoter, says he has a few ideas how to engage them.
