Todd Woodbridge confident Brisbane International will be back in the future

Todd Woodbridge says it’s “very disappointing” the Brisbane International won’t go ahead for the second year in a row.

The Wide World of Sports commentator and tennis legend said he strongly believed the important lead-in events would be back on the calendar in the future.

“Everybody is very disappointed by that, I mean I could promise you Tennis Australia and TQ they would want the tournament there this year,” he told Peter Psaltis.

He said there was “no way” tennis wouldn’t reappear in Brisbane.

In a statement last week, organisers said they understood it was disappointing news for fans about the Brisbane International and ATP Cup.

“The past two years have been challenging on so many levels and everyone involved did everything possible to bring international tennis back to Queensland this summer.”
