Australia will now follow other nations in banning the use of the app on government phones amid fears of spying from China.

Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus has confirmed that TikTok will be banned on government phones and devices “as soon as practicable”.

“Exemptions will only be granted on a case-by-case basis and with appropriate security mitigations in place.” Dreyfus said.
