A major overhaul is on the way for Australia’s military, following the Federal government’s release of the Defence Strategic Review.

The review warns the ADF isn’t fully fit for purpose, as tensions grow in our region.

Neil Breen says “the whole thing’s about China”.

The report outlines the biggest concerns for Australia, one being China’s large-scale military growth which has increased the risk of military escalation or miscalculation to the ‘highest threat level in decades’.

But only 110 pages of the report had been declassified for public viewing.

Neil Breen believes the lack of transparency was because “the government doesn’t want to tell us the full extent of intelligence it has about China’s intentions in the region”.

“Governments know things about China and what it’s up to, that they don’t tell the public”.

Neil Breen believes the review confirms the threat from China is real; “this is it”, Mr Breen commented.
