Liberal MP Craig Kelly has accused GetUp of taking money from overseas donors from “shadowy” organisations.

The lobby group, who are aiming to oust as many conservative candidates as possible, have reported receiving $12.5 million in annual donations before the May 18 federal election.

Craig Kelly says voters shouldn’t trust the group, as they aren’t independent and many of their donations have come from other countries.

“A lot of this money’s also come from overseas as well, from some very shadowy organisations.

“GetUp try and make out they’re somehow independent. These are just a bunch of left-wing extremists.

“They more resemble a cult than actually any sort of legitimate political organisation.”
