The ‘unbelievable’ snub as Pisasale name restored to Springfield bridge

Mark Levy

A caller’s observation on the restoration of Paul Pisasale’s name to a Springfield bridge has left Mark Levy aghast.

The disgraced former Ipswich mayor’s name will once again be attached to the bridge after a council decision to remove it from city assets was successfully overturned.

Mayor Teresa Harding, who voted to oppose the motion, earlier told Mark Levy while she respects the democratic nature of the vote, it’s abhorrent city assets will bear the sex offender’s name.

It led listener Val to call into The Ray Hadley Morning Show with her thoughts.

“How come we can reinstate the name on a bridge, Paul Pisasale, who is virtually, well, he is a criminal, but can’t replace dear Lady Cilento’s name for the hospital?” she asked Levy.

“And she was such a worthy person who did so much good!”

It was a comparison Levy found “unbelievable”.

“We’re going to have a bridge named after a grub like that but we can’t have a hospital named after Lady Cilento.”
