The ‘tough challenges’ a new set of Coalition leaders is facing
A brand new set of Coalition leaders is facing an uphill battle to win back support following a biting defeat at the federal election.
Peter Dutton will lead the Liberal Party, after being elected to the job unopposed, with Sussan Ley as his deputy.
Meanwhile, David Littleproud has emerged from an hours-long Nationals meeting as leader of his party with Perin Davey taking the deputy role.
4BC’s federal politics editor Michael Pachi told Sofie Formica there’s still plenty the Coalition will need to smooth out ahead of the next election.
“They’ve got some pretty tough challenges ahead now, Sofie. The challenges are climate change and a national integrity commission.
“These are two areas that Labor’s going to want to move pretty quickly on.”
