The new viral word game that helps keep your brain active

Sofie Formica

There’s a viral online word puzzle that’s taking the world by storm.

Wordle asks users to identify a new word each day, but with just six tries to figure it out.

Neuropsychologist Debbie Anderson from the Brisbane Neuropsychology Clinic said there was a lot of research over the years about the importance of keeping your brain active to “build up your brain’s reserve”.

“It’s a great way of keeping the connections in your brain active, dusting off fold files if you like, words in Wordle that maybe you haven’t heard of in a long time,” she told Sofie Formica.

She said the key is to keep doing challenging brain games, whether that’s jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku or crosswords and she also revealed when is a good time to start.

“I’d say as early as you can.”
