The ‘ludicrous’ rule that could force the Toowoomba Show to operate at a loss
Organisers of The Toowoomba Royal Show fear a confusing and ‘impossible’ vaccine mandate rule could mean the show will operate at a loss.
The government requires all patrons be double-vaccinated to enter any event considered a ‘festival’ on state-owned land.
It means the show society will need to hire people to check vaccinations at the entry gates.
“I do not understand the health advice,” Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland CEO Amon Phillips told Neil Breen. “We’ve been asking Queensland Health what it is.
“We made the call three months ago that we thought it was our duty to forge ahead with the show.
“It’s killing these local communities for no good reason at all.”
