High-flying travellers are going to “a lot of lengths” to enter Queensland without the risk of entering isolation.

Under current COVID-19 regulations, plane passengers can be forced into isolation on arrival in the state, should one of the people seated nearby later test positive.

It’s lead some to turn to charter companies to circumvent the risk altogether.

“That’s obviously not for the everyday person, but this is happening,” Flight Centre CEO Graham Turner told Sofie Formica.

“We have a charter division called AVMIN and we’re getting quite a few of these charters.

“Let’s face it: it’s probably worth $5- or $6,000, or whatever it costs, depending on the plane, to make sure you’re not going to be a close contact.”
