Key reactions, fallout from ‘scathing’ and historic report into police culture

A long-awaited report into the culture of the Queensland Police Service has been described as “disgusting and confronting” by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

The 412-page report made 78 recommendations for widespread cultural and operational reform, after the inquiry laid bare a disturbing culture of sexism and racism.

The report was particularly critical of leadership executive.

Neil Breen said it was “scathing”.

Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll described the report as a “difficult read” that presents numerous examples of failure within the force.

“For those who have experience this, I am deeply sorry,” she said.

“There are examples of racism, misogyny and sexist behaviour which is not acceptable in our community, and even less acceptable from our police.”

Nine News Tim Arvier said officers in the report express their frustrations about leadership.
