Acclaimed Australian author Kathryn Bonella tells Chris Smith about the real “playboys” behind her new book.

“I’ve spent the last four years going to South America and to Europe and in Bali talking to these playboy drug dealers.

“These criminals are adrenaline junkies… They’re making huge amounts of money and they basically live for today.”

Kathryn says there’s no doubt the market is hungry and growing.

“The whole industry is very pervasive. There’s a constant stream of drug mules who look like normal travellers trafficking drugs.”
