There would be fewer double-header clashes on Friday nights during the NRL season in 2023, under a broad plan to adjust the fixture and ease pressure on players.

It would mean fewer 6pm Friday night games and more Sunday matches.

Sydney Morning Herald sport reporter Adam Pengilly broke the news, and said it was part of a plan to rejig the fixture, and work around the State of Origin in particular.

“The NRL is in the final stages of getting the draw ready for next season, and one the big changes will be a reduction in the amount of Friday night 6pm games they have on the schedule,” he told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.
