A parliamentary committee has recommended public drunkenness, begging and urinating in public in Queensland be decriminalised.

Instead, social welfare responses should be in place.

Neil Breen says he agrees with scrapping the offences of public drunkenness, begging and urinating in public .

“Not one person who is charged with that offence .. not one of them will ever ever have a criminal conviction put against them,” he said.

“Most of them will just pay a watch house bail.

“It just clogs up the system.”
