Suncorp’s plan to crack down on fans urinating on nearby homes

4BC Breakfast + Sofie Formica

Suncorp Stadium have installed new high-tech CCTV cameras and portaloos to stop fans from using the front lawns of nearby properties to relieve themselves.

Petrie Terrace, Milton and Auchenflower residents who live near the stadium last year complained that fan behaviour was getting worse after games.

Locals reported having to mop up excrement from their fences and numerous people urinating on their properties.

Sofie Formica, filling in for Laurel Edwards, told Gary and Mark what she makes of Suncorp’s response and what led to this in the first place.

Milton local Nichola Burton later told Sofie Formica despite the stadium’s claims that fan behaviour has improved, her lived experience is being “dismissed”.

“I had a friend that actually parked in our street, at our house, for the first game,” she said.

“[They] walked our street, walked up from the Hale Street end and saw five people urinating on the house across the road.”
