Storm coach Craig Bellamy has addressed speculation he could lose star player Cameron Munster, saying he hopes he will stay on with Melbourne.

Addressing speculation Munster will sign with the Dolphins in 2024, he said he wasn’t quite sure what Munster was thinking and he wouldn’t be putting pressure on him.

It’s been reported Munster will sign a deal with the NRL’s newest club, making him the highest paid player in the league.

“I don’t know if confident [he will stay long-term] is the right word, we obviously really, really want him to stay, without a doubt,” he told Peter Psaltis in a wide-ranging interview on Wide World of Sports.

“At the end of the day I know he will do what he thinks is right for his footy but even what he thinks is right for his family, which I want every player to have their family forefront in their minds when they are making decision, family comes first, footy second.

“Hopefully he sees it that it’s best for his footy and certainly best for his family to stay here.”

Bellamy admits the club hit a rough patch for a few weeks, but the performance against the Panthers was “fantastic” as they eye off a top four spot.
