Melbourne Storm CEO Justin Rodski says the club holding on to star player Cameron Munster is important on and off the field, after he ended months of speculation by re-signing with the club.

The Dolphins were hoping to lure Munster to Queensland, but it was announced yesterday Munster had agreed to a four-year contract extension with Melbourne.

Rodski said it’s exciting for the club and its members.

“Clearly a really big decision he was working through through most of this year, the lure of going home to Queensland was certainly there but we are thrilled that he will be with us until at least the end of 2027, and become a one-club payer and hopefully playing in some more premierships for the club,” he told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports.

As one of the most loved players, Mr Rodski said Munster brings people through the gates, describing him as an “excitement machine”.

“Everybody talks about the Dolphins wanting a marquee player, we are the same,” he said.

“We’re in a AFL dominated market, and we need our marquee players to cut through the media down here, and Cameron Munster is one of those players.”
